OPPOSE H.4608 (SAVE WOMEN'S SPORTS ACT): As a constituent, I strongly urge you to OPPOSE H.4608. To date, there has been absolutely no evidence that transgender or non-binary athletes pose any serious danger to any sport in which they participate in South Carolina. This bill is at its core an attempt to invalidate transgender and gender non-binary identity. Attacks on transgender youth do nothing but increase depression, anxiety, and suicide. During the 2021-22 Legislative Session there have been seven different attempts to advance versions of this proposed language in the form of attempted bills or attempted provisos in the budget. All have failed. Corporations have all come out against bills like H.4608 stating "We are deeply concerned by the bills being introduced in statehouses across the country that single out LGBTQ individuals - many specifically targeting transgender youth - for exclusion or differential treatment."
