SC Equality plays a leading role in placing LGBTQ-related issues where they belong – in the mainstream of South Carolina politics. Most importantly, SC Equality PAC makes financial and in-kind contributions to candidates vying for seats locally and statewide during the election season. SC Equality’s non-partisan political action committee (SC Equality PAC) makes such contributions directly to candidates. Using a specific set of carefully developed criteria, SC Equality PAC taps those candidates who have a solid history of support for lesbian and gay equality in a number of areas, including hate crimes prevention, employment non-discrimination and also housing and public accommodations non-discrimination. Another factor the SC Equality PAC considers when choosing candidates is whether their contests will be close. In addition to financial contributions, SC Equality's PAC also helps organize fund-raisers and generates volunteers for the races.
