The bill — the Youth Gender Reassignment Prevention Act — proposed by S.C. Republican Stewart Jones, would ban gender reassignment surgery for people under the age of 18, which is already uncommon. It doesn’t stop there, though. It would also ban hormones, puberty blockers, antidepressants and any treatment that would “facilitate the transitioning” of a minor.
The bill even Includes three specific interventions that ban children from developing “secondary” sexual behavior, forces them to have the same gender and same sexual orientation, and prohibits any help for children experiencing significant stress resulting in gender dysphoria.
